For those of you unaware of this I expect there's more quail in the subdivisions of Greater Phoenix than the surrounding desert. The subdivision environment is about ideal due to plenty of water and food with drip irrigation systems. There is also a lack of predators other than the occasional hawk or roving coyote and of course house cats. It's not unusual to flush 3 or 4 coveys on a short walk from my home. Our Pug,though certainly not hunting stock, loves jumping into a bush and flushing out a covey.
