All sorts of log in/register stuff to access the article. Do you have to be a PGCA member?? Yeah Larry, you do have to register to become a forum member to participate. It's simple and painless--I'm surprised you aren't a member, lots of good stuff and good people over there--you'd fit right in! Who knows?...perhaps you'll wanna dump that pair of A & N's for a genuine original Parker Bros. fowling piece!

Years ago I would look at the Parker Gun Collectors site, but only had a couple very old Parkers (hammer guns) that had been passed to me.
My interest was really in the small gauge guns, which at that time were Repros.
In the few times that I looked, it seemed like the Repros were considered the "foster" children, and little was mentioned of them. However in my recent search over there, the site now has a forum for just the Repro's.
I would recommend anyone with interest in these guns to take another look. It is a very impressive site, with a depth of knowledge of Repro's as well as "originals" that I'm sure is unmatched.

+ 1 to all Fred said. The Parkerguns.com forum is full of knowledgeable and gentlemanly people (they even require you to use your real name...no cutesy avatars). As for any prejudice against Repros (that's all I own), I have never seen it. In fact many on that forum own both originals and Repros, which generally have much better stock dimensions, not to mention steel shot compatibility. Joe (Bernfeld  )

Many of us "over there" own and shoot Repros and let them share safe space with our originals.

Joe, re the steel shot compatibility . . . my memory told me that the Winchester literature advised not shooting steel in Repros, other than the Steel Shot Special. However, I just looked in my file, and the little Repro pamphlet carries no such warning. I did find a hang tag--I think from a Repro, because it was stuck in the pamphlet--stating that steel shouldn't be shot through full choke barrels. But no general warning concerning steel in Repros. Any of you guys have anything further on steel in Repros?

In short, all Parker Reproductions (with the exception of full choke) are designed to be used with steel shot. This comes from numerous original Parker Reproduction newsletters and brochures. The 12 ga Steel Shot Specials may have been a bit heavier and possibly overbored (we need someone to measure bores to compare), although there is some question about any real differences (other than SS in the serial number). They did have fairly open chokes, although my Parker Repro duck gun for steel shot has 28" bbls with 3" chambers and is choked a rather loose IC/Mod, and is not stamped SS in the serial number. I'm pretty sure that the 275 or so Steel Shot Specials were a marketing idea built for Dunn's (Jaeger Gunsmiths) since they are so similar to other non-SSS like mine.
