A big fat duck should be shot with a properly choked and loaded 12b[ga], or larger - its just that easy.

Ben Pearson shot ducks with a bow Mr.Lowell...you might turn that 20 incher into a harpoon gun for ducks. Check to see If it's legal first.

Isn't the stringing effect caused by the swinging gun ?

No. Spreading or stringing from gun motion has never been observed.

A crosswind, however, would drift the slower and later to arrive pellets more since they are subjected to the wind for longer. Of course if your right angle target is flying downwind, this will actually reduce the shotstring length...

Yes, I know it ain't much but it could probably be measured by a dedicated experimenter.

It has been shown by experiment (painted pellets and high-speed photos) that damaged pellets, largely from bore contact and rear-of-load setback forces) are the laggards. This is predicted by aerodynamics also.

Hevi-shot is an interesting phenomenon. Teardrop-shaped pellets should have less drag than spheres, for the same streamlining reason that boat-tails are used on bullets. Evidently this generally outweighs Hevi-shot pellets' other shape "flaws."

And I too truly appreciate Miller's ability to assemble and provide great amounts of specific, documented information!
