It is a PO box 366 Oakland, CA.
There is a postage ink stamp on it so we can probably trace that to determine what area of Oakland it shipped from. Not that this would tell us where the actual bullets were made of course.
I'll look around to see if I have anything else on the company - brochures etc.

The Benicia Armory is close by, as is San Quinton prison. Lots of industry in Oakland area, so I'm afraid the field has not been narrowed much by their PO Box.

Anyone who wants to chase this is more then welcome, from time to time I take a shot at it but always come up empty. I've not looked at the info in years but they started making bullets in 1914 under private contract (no idea who) then started selling to the public about 1920. A Mr. Colton was in charge at one time. P.O. Box 856 is the only one I have ever seen. 1936 Letter signed by A. Martin 1939-1949 Letters signed by V. Clark http://alamedaconnection.com/pages/Businesses/view/1339/printable/1I have several catalogs and price list as well as a few boxes of bullets.

Huvius,
Can you confirm that the bullet diameter of the WT&C .280-Dubiel bullets are .2885”?

What this country needs is a good affordable receiver and/or bolt sleeve sight for mausers,'03's,M70's,etc.One that could be fitted to a Remington 700 would be nice also.Receiver sights are so quick to use and can be very accurate when properly used and made.

Affordable is subjective but Prechtl of Germany makes one. So does Rustys Action Works 804-493-9370 186 Rectory Rd Montross, VA 22520

Michael, I really don't want to cut the tape on the WT&C boxes but I do have some period loaded .280 Dubiel rounds which I can measure. I'll get back to you.

Thanks, don't open the boxes! I'm a little slow at times putting the pieces together. This look familiar?

Oh yes! I really need to get the rifle out to shoot. Right now I own way too many guns which I haven't fired - pity...
