Are these guns box locks or side locks? The reason I ask I just acquired a Zabala Derby 12 ga. with ejectors, very hard to open with both barrels fired. The few theories I have are 1. this gun has a coil spring for the hammers, 2. when fired, and opened, the cocking rods are not only cocking the hammers but also act in the operation of the ejectors. I have not taken the fore iron off and looked at the type of springs there, but when I tried the ejectors out in the store, they gave me the Zoom ones made out of aluminium and they threw them pretty far, so I guess the springs there are stout also. It is possible that your guns have different springs types, and could be the reason.

David,
They are sidelocks. They are hand detachable, however, I have not taken them out. There are five pins on the plate so coil springs may have been used for the guns.

Thanks Jim, BTW it's just Khanh. I will take all suggestions into consideration. I have cleaned the chambers, I will remove the ejectors and clean. I confident that the gun is tight and not off face. I will not have time to take the guns out again for a few weeks (family and work duties). I don't buy guns new so the majority of my guns have been used so this may be due to lack of use of the number two gun. I am not confident enough to do any work on the guns myself so they will go off to Jim Greenwood to look at. So Khanh is your first name, not Mr. Khanh. Welcome to the board, Khanh. As you say you're not confident to do any work on the gun, yourself, I would not recommend taking the ejectors apart, either. If your gun actually has EXTRACTORS, rather than ejectors, the extractor is pretty simple. An extractor is one piece and simply slides back and forth, held in place by a small screw. It pulls or extracts the shells part way out of the chambers, regardless whether they were fired. Ejectors are two pieces, fairly complicated and usually eject only the fired shell, out of the gun and into the air. The terms are not interchangeable.

Jim
The gun has ejectors. I wasn't going to mess with the ejector mechanism in the fore end. I thought I could take out the extractors on the barrels which appear to be held with a screw.

What shells do you use?New cheaper shells like Estates will swell at the head, even slightly,in combo with rough chambers and mediocre leverage systems equals problems.
oops edit to note featherlite shells.... look at those shells Khan.

My bet is the firing pins protruding too much, and thus hanging in the primers...a common problem in my experiences.

I don't know if Khanh fired his gun with shells, but mine is hard to open by just dry firing. Also these guns have a spring in the bushing, which when the gun is opened and starting to recock, the spring will push the firing pin back. It is still quite possible that the firing pins are hanging up, but they are quite short and only protrude about 3/32".
If would be nice to know if the gun is hard to open dry fired.

No issues dry firing. Noticed that it was hard to open after both barrels are fired, did not notice when individual barrels fired and opened. I used Winchester AA featherlites on them last weekend.
