Hi All,

I was advised to introduce myself so here goes...

Google Harris Highwall to find a website under construction

I am exploring making best quality scaled highwalls and have made a handful of shooting prototypes. At this time I'm trying to figure out how to make a viable business out of it.

Words of wisdom appreciated.
Constructive criticism appreciated as the only way I can
improve.
Insults graciously accepted with source considered. :-)

Thank you,
Mark M Harris

what will be the price of finished rifles and barreled actions?
357 Max would be a great hunting rifle in a reduced highwall. Are you going to compete with the mini sharps?

Love to see a high wall scaled down for the .22 rimfire and detailed like an original "special sporting rifle." The mind reels...

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

Welcome Mark! Looks like we were at Trinidad at the same time athough I couldn't find you in the yearbook? I'm sure interested in High Walls and am wondering what a "scaled high wall" is? Looked over your website but didn't really understand the concept?

Looks like you've got a great shop full of equipment and huge capabilities. Was wondering about the sidelock shown?

If I might, a great way to introduce your High Wall would be to send one to Glenn Fewless to review for us, and the ACGG Gunmaker!
Best,
Steve

What is the scale? I had one of the so called Hubalek hammerless Ballards years ago which was about 8/10 scale which worked well as a .22. Len Brownell stocked in sporter style tending toward prone rifle.

Thank you to all the posts here and PM advisers
a bit over-whelming and time consuming but very helpful
will try to keep up

price to be determined .. all suggestions listened to
price depends on how many i can sell which depends on price
the chicken and egg situation
compete with mini sharps ?
not intentionally, thought the same people might appreciate both
i'd like to see the people who like the sharps buy 1 or 2 each
and the people who like my gun order a couple dozen at a time :-)

thanks will followup on your Glenn Fewless suggestion

my scaled highwall concept ( assuming there must be others)
having worked on several; a Winchester highwall is too big IMO for a 22RF or 2R Lovell or even a light 3030 deer rifle for eastern woods walking
the low wall is ill suited for 2R and other bigger/hotter rounds
SOOO...

looking at a highwall from the side I'm making it about 90% of full size. then shorten top tang and alter angle + curve lower tang and integrate riser for through bolt

scaled about 90% from side view
smaller than it sounds
it has and needs the right side Pope treatment for 22 rf
no finger room
fine with highwall both sides for 2R

everyone seems to want:
1)thinside highwall
2)round top of action instead of octagon
3)more elegant lever and style choices
all underway

My intention is to make a very small number of actions
and/or complete guns. The small number dictated by demand.
I wish I could sell hundreds at half the price.

at this time I'm thinking ballpark anticipated price :

$ 2000.00 for complete action with bits in 4140 prehard or 8620
based on selling 1 or 2 actions per month

or maybe a limited run 1 time only at a higher price?

Your comments encouraged both positive and critical.
