Drew, some of David's pictures are of Bo1, not Bo2. I recognize it as Bo1 because I once saw it on the side of the road on a trip down south years ago. Much better pictures are available of Bo1 on the Julia Auction site. The pistol grip guns are Bo2. I recognize Fox #35 in one of the shots also. It has changed hands so many times since the MM book, I can't keep track. The restock picture with the unfitted Silvers pad is captioned #121. I think I remember that Becker numbered Bo2 #121. Why did Bo2 need restocking? I thought Bo2 was in pretty good shape. I doubt that the caption is correct. The straight grip gun with the Colorado license plate is the famous "Joe Knapp Club" Fox, not Bo1. I guess I should get a life beyond shotguns.

The No. 121 in those David Trevelion pictures is the Frank J. Barthmaier (one of the original directors of the A.H. Fox Gun Co.) gun from the first year of the A.H. Fox Gun Co. BoWhoop II is Burt Becker serial number 121. Two totally different guns. I have no idea why Drew has those pictures in a picture thread on Nash Buckingham and the BoWhoops?

Dam,

I corresponded with Jim Julia concerning this, at length, and he said this is not the first time he has been in this type situation where an insurance company would seem to possibly have "rights" to an item. One instance he recalled to me was with an original scrimshawed powder horn of great value that he was about to auction, which he was informed had been stolen, then paid for by the insurance company. Jim contacted the insurance company and, after a lengthy description of the object and situation over the phone, the agent asked Jim if he was crazy. Said he, "We don't keep records of claims paid for years on end! Do with it what you will, we don't care!". The insurance company wrote Julia a release and signed it, totally relinquishing any claim to the horn, which BTW, was a $15K to $25K item.

IOW ,this ain't his first rodeo with something like this.
