Now let me see here. Apparently I can buy a new high wall clone action for $1000; an action that may or may not be ready to barrel and shoot, an action that may or may not accept original parts, an action that may or may not match the appearance of the rest of the production run, etc etc.
Why wouldn't I just go ahead and buy an original Winchester action? Same price or at least same price range, set triggers already available, parts interchange just fine, heat-treat already done properly, FULL braggin' rights for those who care, and no worries about safety, provenance or resale.
You say you can't find an original high wall action for a comparable price? Apparently you haven't looked very hard.....
When AGC action production is finalized and the price is somewhat lower or the price of original actions becomes higher, this will possibly become a preferable option. Until then I have several original actions that cost about the same and a thickside octagon-top clone action with PG and DSTs that cost considerably less.
