Hey all, I finally got it to a bore gauge. There is no parallel to the chokes at all. So it probably has been trimmed a little bit to open the chokes. Also found a G E Lewis trunk case for a hammer gun for it to live in. After I got the case home I found faintly stamped in the back of it C Lloyd Howell. Not sure who Mr. Howell was but apparently he ordered a new Lewis hammer gun once upon a time.

The Brits made plenty of chokes without parallel sections. Do you have reason to believe Scott always used parallels?

I can't recall but I think all my choked W&C Scotts have a fairly long gradual tapered choke.

Ithaca:
In my estimation your Scott is probably original. I have a number of them in both hammer and hammerless forms. None of them have concise barrel lengths. All vary about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. This is typical for many English guns. It doesn't mean they've been cut (do the tubes "kiss" at the muzzle?). Also, Scott chokes are often as observed -- tapered. But Scott would make anything you wanted. Including parallel chokes. Finally, .030 of choke is fairly the threshold of "full" by UK standards. I wouldn't worry about that either. It should bash anything you fire it at. Just use 1 oz. 1200 fps or less loads -- if you can find them in the States.

A lot of guns have somewhat "odd" barrel lengths and similar choke in both barrels.

I'd bet the Scott has been cut.

30" was the rage for that time period.
