Chuck, you are right about the estimated prices most auctions list. But this ones has a starting bid of $6400.00. I too think the decimal is one off to the right.
Gun auctions are like any auctions, most times it is like a bidding frenzy, some will bid just because someone else bid, and so on until it is out of range.
One point is the Czar's Parker, does anyone know for sure that it was ordered for the Czar? I don't think so, it is only speculation. It could have been ordered for anyone in a high position. If I'm not mistaken, it was never written on the order form that it was for Tsar Nicholas II.
My point is that since this gun was re-stocked, re-checkered, re-blued, re-cased, does it deserve a starting bid of $6400. Blue Book 26 th Edition lists a 16 ga. at 90% @ $1825, maybe a few dollars more now.
Basically they are telling me it was a piece of junk to begin with and now they made it into Cinderella with both red shoes.
I won't be going to the ball.
