There are two 28-inch barrel Diana Grade .410-bores coming up in the March James Julia auction.

The Waterfowl Series may be nice guns but they're finished like a Weatherby rifle. Just not my cup of tea.

Where did the originator of this thread ever say he wanted a .410? JR

The Browning Waterfowl Series of Superposeds have a hand-rubbed satin oil finish and a subdued, rust blue. A Weatherby rifle has a high gloss, sprayed on lacquer and high-polish hot blue. Where's the similarity? JR

I'm just starting my search for a high end Browning Superposed. Are they still being produced in the FN plant or am I behind the times? I noticed a couple dealers that have Custom Exhibition guns and even though they have false sideplates , they have caught my eye. Would someone school me on these guns. Are they in present producton and are they worth the price? Paul Driscoll A pawn shop in Cedar City, Utah, has a Diana, 12 ga. Beautiful gun! I looked at it Friday. I think it was around $8,000 and they would deal somewhat.Send me a direct e-mail and I'll get you their phone number.

John Roberts, thank you for the reminder about the Waterfowl guns. I should know better, since I worked in a gun store that had a couple on the rack for a while. Although I love early Supers and know a little about their value, I've always had a bit of trouble sorting out the variety of later graded guns. I'm sure the present generation of Super is a quality product but I'm less sure about the price.

I'm sure the present generation of Super is a quality product but I'm less sure about the price. The only "present generation" of Superposeds is available solely through the Browning Custom Shop. These guns are hand finished and assembled and are much "finer" guns in fit and finish (I still suspicion that Lebeau-Courally has a hand in some of this work) than any of the original production Supers ever were, and are priced commensurately. They are also available in configurations never available in the early guns; i.e. a 28 ga. w/30" bbls. Ron McGee, who is Browning's director of their Custom Shop program, told me last year that the exchange rate with the dollar vs. the Euro has all but stopped the Superposed production because they cannot be priced here at a competitive level. A good example is a C2G model, which basically is an engraving pattern label but also includes a certain level of wood quality and checkering pattern, was priced on Browning's website in 2008 at $22,000. Last year this gun was priced at $33,000, which is absurd and not sellable at that price. They no longer give prices on the website and are quoted on a bespoke basis. Last I heard, this model was somewhere around $25,000. JR
