it's a dealer by dealer thing. i always include a copy of my d/l right off but i black out the d/l # and my signature. name and address are public record anyway. texas isn't so stupid as to have SSN on the license.
i have had one dealer call wanting my d/l # and i gave him that over the phone.
if we sat and thought about how many data bases our personal info existed on and how many thousands of people had access to it we probably wouldn't sleep at night. when i lived in TN, i heard there was one teller at the credit union who searched accounts looking for husband material.

funny you mention that. I always made it a rule to never date bank tellers for that exact reason.
elementary teachers were off the list as well; too bossy.
