has anyone seen the new 410 L.C. Smith by Marlin
I wonder is it based on a 20ga frame or is it a true 410 small frame

Dale, still looking? Over on the Marlin web page the 410 weighs 6.5 lbs. and the 12 ga weighs 6.25 lbs. So I don't think it is on a smaller frame. Thing I hate it has a recoil pad on it. Best thing to do is call them up.

Buy the real one, you will find a decent one for under $4G

The Marlin SxS was a big disapointment for me. I'd buy a CZ over it any day.

The current Marlin Elsie is made by Fausti Stefano. It's essentially the same gun as the Weatherby Athena d'Italia, but with different cosmetics. I've only looked at a couple Marlin Elsies, not shot them. I didn't think they were bad guns for the money, at least not just from looking them over. But I agree that if you want a 410 or 28 for weight reduction, you're better off looking at the CZ's than a 6.5# Marlin Elsie. In 20ga, however, I think the new Elsies and the CZ's are probably pretty close in weight.
