I have two Tobins, both built in Norwich. One is a grade 20 with nothing special about it, and the other is a Trap Grade 50 ET. Both guns show a good quality of fit and finish, and the Trap Gun is nicely engraved. However, both guns are loose in the joint in spite of not showing a lot of use or wear otherwise. My opinion is that the fault is in the design of the action. To make room for the cocking mechanism and hammer springs, too much metal has to be removed from the frame, making it subject to stretching and becoming loose in the joint. The single trigger mechanism is unique, but seems to work reliably. On my gun, the selector selects either right/left, or left only, and it was built that way for some reason. Does anyone know if the trigger design was patented, and if so by whom?
