Regardless of what gun you end up with, your thought of passing it along to your kids will not have much meaning if you didn't use it. They'll look at it as a comodity and sell it if it didn't have a lot of history with you. Lots of pictures of you with your day's bag and the gun will go a long way toward your kids appreciating what it meant to you and therefore, to them. Of course, there's no guarantee of what your kids will think about anything you leave them, so don't plan your life around your death, IMHO.
