At the urging of my eldest son, I relented and traveled to town to the weekend gun show. I had no intention of purchasing anything (do we ever?). Long story short, I walked past a table full of very well kept S x S guns and locked on the Simson pictured below. It is a very nice firearm. The owner said he had brought it from Germany (he was an importer) after he bought a collection from a neighbor. The mfg certificate was rolled up and inserted into one barrel. The seller said it had probable been in there for years. It has 28" bbls, 2.75" chambers, ejectors, choked M/F and weighs 6.6 lbs. Very few marks in the wood and zero marks on metal. The screws appear untouched. Proofed 31 August 1976. Locks up like a vault. $1500. What do you think?
