Thinking of selling my 1993 made CSMC Fox CE grade to help finance an English Best sidelock. This gun was the second CE made by them and I have documentation on that along with all the specs. The gun is Demunck engraved and the detail is outstanding. Absolutly a beautiful gun!I had always planned on keeping it and passing it on. But at this point I am looking for a Best English sidelock. So what opinions do you have?

Hi PALUNC, The only opinion that really matters is yours. If you've fallen out of love with the Fox don't hesitate to sell it and get what you now want. Some people do that with wives! I don't recommend that but guns can come and go, as wants change.

Keep the Fox and buy the English Sidelock, they will hold up better then the DOW,the dollar and gain more then your Money Market will over the next few years.

A quick search of the net (other than CSM's site) will give you a good idea of what a secondhand CSM Fox is going for. I was lured toward a few used ones over the yrs due to the relatively low price compared to todays cost from CSM new.

Do you shoot it well? Has it been any places special with you? Are there any excellent days in your memory bank related to that gun?
The the questions are somewhat rhetorical of course, because chances are if any of them were 'yes', you would not consider selling it.
Finally, are your plans for the Brit gun any different? Will it serve better in some way tangible?
This is what I usually ask myself.
Example: A few years back I sold a beautiful field gun that I did not shoot well and apparently was never going to master to the point that I looked forward to using it, and bought with the proceeds a target gun that I use very often and makes me smile. This taught me something about myself, and the value guns actually hold for me.

I'm with Chuck H, lets see it. Any idea of the price you would ask for it?

Well the gun is a real beauty. No I never hunted with it. Since this gun is the second CE they made I was going to ask $16,500 for it. For your opinion if you want pictures e-mail me at, mikep@fac.unc.edu and I will send you some.

Mike, No offense intended, but I'm skeptical that the gun would sell at that price unless it's possibly a 2 bbl set and with other extras. But, you could get lucky and find a buyer when there aren't any others on the market. There aren't many available at any given time.
