I stumbled on this one over at Champlin. Now, I understand dovetail lump isn't the way it was done, but, does anyone else out there think this is a screaming deal? Not that I need it, or have a stake in it, but, what a hell of a sometime trap or pointing dog pheasant gun. What say you? Nice wood to boot. Best, Ted http://www.champlinarms.com/Default.aspx...0&GunID=745

That could make me cancel my RBL order. What beautiful wood.

Unless the sleeving job messed up the balance, I'd say that's a good possibility for anyone wanting to own a Boss "shooter".

Ted! Our friend Homelessj0ey would say, that the barrels have been cut for cowboy action. ...and he would go on - and on, and on about it. He's zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

That is a great looking gun. I was in Scottsdale over the Christmas holidays and stopped by William Larkin Moore. They have a pair of these in original condition and Dan Moore said they were going to ask $25K for the pair. They were gorgeous, but too rich for my engineer's blood. They don't seem to be on their web site yet so they might be new arrivals.

Seems to me that sleeving, or new barrels, with 2 3/4" chambers is putting a lot of thrust on an old action face. I just think Wally-World bombs are going to be a tremendous strain on things. I realise that those of us on here would not use them on such a gun but what would happen if it was given to Bubba? My 1904 Army and Navy SLE 12 bore has very new barrels from Benjamin Wild of Birmingham, and these are chambered for 2 1/2, which is right and proper in my mind. What do you fellows out there think? Ted; You say it wasn't dovetailed lumped, are you positive of this? I interpret it, that is speaking of the original joining of the breeches, which is not to be confused with dovetail chopper lumps. I would not be at all surprised if it did not indeed have dovetail lumps. This has nothing to do with the sleeving, which I presume is the conventional method of cutting off & boring out the breeches & sleeving in new tubes. "Nota Bene" they are not "Mono-Blocked". I know neither you nor the ad said they were, but so many do.

I went strictly by the ad copy, Miller. Don't know for sure 'till its in my grubby little hands.
The 2 3/4 thing wouldn't bother me a bit, as the 2 1/2" ammo I would feed it would be fine. 'Bubba won't buy it, as it needs camo tape on the stock to complete it, and Darlene has her eye on a new surround sound...
That stock is simply phenomenal...not a hammer guy myself, but the neatest thing I've seen in a long, long, while. Best Ted
PS Thorny, 29" tubes, and I 'gotta believe this thing would handle as good as it looks.

Now, I understand dovetail lump isn't the way it was done, Ted: Why do you say that? Many, many, best London guns from this period were originally built with dovetail lump barrels. It isn't unusual at all. I just handled a hammerless Holland "Royal" .500/.450 Nitro Express from 1902 with original dovetail lump barrels. Damascus barrels were typically joined this way. Since they were accustomed to this method, many of the best barrel makers continued to use it well after fluid steel became common. From the description, it sounds to me like the original barrels have simply been sleeved. It's a beautiful gun.

Only thing I don't like about it is....it doesn't belomg to me. Thorney I hear using 'Viagra' as a buffing agent in your Ammo can do wonders for chopped Beezleys. Might not fix the problem but they say it could give it a couple of inches.
