If the serial number is to be considered, it would hint toward a small firm but I'm curious how the term "Hubertus" of Immanuel Meffert surfaced. Is it a Meffert action and could you post a pic of the action? When I see the two craftsmen together in the oval it makes me think of the knife maker brother's Henkels, but they have nothing to do with it. So next I'd guess brothers Helfricht, who were active during WWI but I haven't found a Helfricht with the 1st initial of "F."; therefore, I'd turn to Helfricht & Fischer of Zella Saint Blasii who founded their firm in 1859. The company continued at least to the beginning of WWII and I'd guess survived to the end. There were probably at least 1/2 dozen Helfricht craftsmen in Zella Saint Blasii but they were mainly concerned with pistols, and that would have been Kuno Helfricht(note shape of "H" on grips - http://www.littlegun.be/arme%20allemande/artisan%20g%20h/a%20helfriect%20gb.htm ) during the post 1912 period when this example was made. Is there an intertwined "ZM" stamp anywhere on the flats?

I too thought of Heym but his trademark was a hunter with a backpack and what looks to be a Bracco. And I haven't seen a Helfricht & Fishcher trademark until now, that is if that is what it is and I can't account for the "A - G" unless it denotes a corporation like one would see on Krupp steel tubes " Fried. Krupp, A.G.". The rifled tube is of Krupp steel and was made at the Schilling hammerforge. Just guessing, but I'd say one of the craftsmen at Helfricht & Fishcher performed the fitting. Now there were other "F.H." craftsmen such as Franz Häusser of Suhl and others but I believe the "F.H." to be a company stamp.

What's the stamp right above/below the "F.H."?

Kind Regards,

Raimey
