For things that call for boiled linseed oil I have been using what is called "stand oil". In days of old boiled oil was just that, boiled until it thickened, nowadays it's oil with chemicals added that act as a drier. I'm just now starting to play with stand oil so too early to report much but seems to work so far. http://www.grumbacherart.com/products/mediums/oil/index.html
