I would not want to split the barrels - far too much work for me!
I think the longer barrels would look classier, but.....
The only challenge might be to get enough travel (Up/down l/r) at the muzzles to get regulation.
I made a concentric chamber fitting plug and soldered the 38-55 barrel liner into it.

You aren't likely going to take this thing to Africa or market it, so perhaps keep it simple.
