I have a A 10 on order. I am have second thoughts on the barrel length. The configuation I have on order currently is a pistol grip, single trigger, with the hunter forend. All of my 20 gauges I currenty own have 26 inch barrels. Just looking for thouhgts on what others have on order or what they would order and why.

The hot set up in skeet and sporting clays is 30 inch tubes, the trap people like the 30's but seem to be moving towards 32. It's tough to sell 26 or 28 inch barreled guns in skeet and sporting.

Phil, what frame are you ordering? The 20 gauge frame might be a while coming, even longer than the 12 gauge frame but may be worth the wait.

I would be buying a A10 for hunting with some use as a clays gun. I'm a big fan of the 20g and shoot sporting clays regularly with a 32" Browing 525 20g. At 7 lbs even and very forward balanced, it's the most "natural" shooting gun I have. I just shoot this combination of weight and balance so well, it feels like I'm cheating if I take it pheasant hunting.

So, my choice would include a 32" bbl and probably a 28" bbl as a set for quail.

If you're wondering, I'm a very average 5' 10" or was before I got married and beat down.

No brainer-30". The A-10 needs long barrels to balance out that big receiver, both dynamically and aesthetically. You picked the right package with the field forearm and pistol grip.

Thirty inch barrels are the new twenty eight inch.

If all your guns have 26" bbls, you probably don't need another with the same barrel length.
I can only assume that you ordered the 20ga. receiver. That should be perfect for 28-32" bbls. If this is a field gun, there is no reason to exceed 28" bbls. If 2" of barrel length made a big difference, I wouldn't be saying that. It doesn't. It's all about gun fit.
If you are looking for a clay target gun, your thought process might be slightly different.

I have a 20/28 set, both sets of barrels 30". Right now its pistol grip but as CSMC gets a handle on what it will weigh, I may change to straight grip if the pistol is above 7#'s which is my target weight. With the weight adjustment systems on both the barrels and the stock, its hard to figure out what any configuration will actually weigh at this time.-Dick

So far, we don't know which frame Phil or Dick are ordering, and why. When we find out, this whole thread will become more interesting.

I am thinking of ordering a 32" 20ga A-10 Standard on a 20ga frame with a field forend and straight grip for Argentina doves. I figure I have a couple more trip south of the equator before I retire so why not!

I know I'm just paranoid, but taking a leaf sprung gun that far to shoot possibly thousands upon thousands of rounds would have me backing up the gun with a common coil sprung gun like a coil sprung MX-20 P-gun or better yet, a BSS.
