What's the issue with the flexibility of the Galazan Correct Period pad? Personally, I find this flexibility a virtue and not an issue or problem. Because of the flexiblity of the base and pad material it conforms to the curvature of the butt, thus making cutting and squaring up of the butt unnecessary when installing, thus one can keep the originality of the wood--if that should be desirous.

The issue in my experience is that the black base of the Galazan pad is prone to cracking, not only when you mount it to a curved buttstock but when you are screwing the pad down onto the buttstock. The quality of the rubber is not up to par either in my opinion. I had a Galazan repro pad mounted on a Lefever and the rubber was actually way too soft very unlike a real Silvers pad, and it did not have the proper orange color.

Real Silvers pads are quite mountable on a curved buttstock, they just need to be heated properly via boiling or heat gun and they will bend with the curve of a buttstock nicely and I have yet to see one break or crack at the base, I'm having one mounted right now.

My experience with the Galazan Correct Period Pads have been just the opposite. When I had both a genuine S.W. Silver's orange pad and a Galazan pad in hand for a direct side-by-side comparison I could not discern any color difference between the two. Being of a softer composition the Galazan pad, unlike the Silver's, actually works in terms of taming recoil and after several years of usage with these pads I've never had one crack, fade, peel, separate, blister or rust!

Here's a pic of a Galazan pad right out of the package displaying its flexiblity--no boiling, no heating, no fuss, no mess.

My experience with the Galazan pads is the same as bamboozler. I have used a bunch of them and never had a problem.

I like the stiff base on the original Silvers pads. The repro ones are flexible, you can literally thumb them back when they're on the gun and that just doesn't seem right for some reason.

I peronnally don't like recoil pads, but if I had to use one I agree that the one shown is too flexible.
Like Destry said, who wants a recoil pad you can peel back, that's awful, and would not make a nice job.
