Hi all, can someone tell me the color of the recoil pad that G&H have for sale?
Also, is it a good quality pad?
Thanks so much!

Brick red. I've used them since 1986. They are big with big plugs, not suitable for little butts but the best there is for full sized guns.

Actually, they are reddish orange (Murphy is color blind)They are made by Ames Rubber, the same company that makes Galazans pads and they appear to be of the same composition. They have considerably SMALLER plugs than the Galazan Period/ authentic Silvers do on the same hole centers but as Bill says they are still a big pad. They are marked with G&H's name inside the hollow and "3 1/2" if I recall correctly. Last time I was at G&H they had a few cartons in the basement of them. I prefer them to the Galazan pad but the real Silvers pad from Kynamco in the UK is still by far the best IMHO>

Claudio, I don't own any Galazan pads so I can't comment, but my Griffin and Howe pads are not orange, they are brick red. The gentleman sporting the Wilkes address may certainly have some Griffin pads that have an orange look to them. Some of the Galazan repro pads do seem to run toward orange.

Thank you What about these? and let me say that I'm not looking at them from the quick change point of view,..I just need a large red pad with a stiff backing plate, the previously discussed two are a bit too flexible for my taste, and I can cut my own plugs http://www.newenglandcustomgun.com/CJ

Claudio, are you saying that the Griffin pad is too flexible? I think they are ideal for a large butt. I have not found them to be flexible.

No Bill,I find the black base on the Galazan pad flexible,..and since they appear to be made by the same company I assumed them to be the same. If you say the plate on the Griffin pad is hard/stiffer rubber I might give it a try

I have had two Galazan pads arrive cracked from left to right and one had the orange rubber seperate form the plastic base when I was grinding it. I think that pada are like a batch of cookies. Each one can get a little over cooked at times. The cracked pads gleud up O.K. but there seems to be a quality problem.
Just my two cents, Gordon
