According to Greeners records gun #55951 was made in 1907. In addition to the "Forester' name there should be a code engraved on the tang of the trigger guard ,Eg; {Likely F16.Per Greeners fourth system of grading] This grade of gun was one of Greener,s inexpensive range of guns and was listed at 16gns;[ie;their best gun at the time sold for 150 gns. Note: 1Gns = 1.05 pounds, stirling]
The Forester gun is listed in Greeners 1892 price list as an inexpensive Hammer Gun with a price range of 9-16 gns. As stated by others, it is difficult to locate information on the Forester Hammerless model. The Forester name seems to have been abandoned circa 1910 in favour of the the name "Dominion" already in use on another gun in Greener,s inexpensive range. Approx value as found is $3-500.
