You need to understand the location of where Mattoon IL is.
West central part of the state, without towns of any real size within 200 miles.
I always seem to find some underpriced SXS there as the area is much more of a Model 12/Benelli demographic. The Fox was a Philly 16 ga / 28" barrels with mirror bores and except for the cracked stock ( neck) it was in excellent shape : a real bargain for someone looking for a custom platform or a nice restock.
The Thomas Turner had some deep bore pits that in my opinion would not polish out, other than that -nice shape and well balanced.
I considered the WC Scott since it was a 20 E , but with the short barrels and only 11 " LOP (with ~4" add on spacers) ,I couldn't get motivated .
A couple of nice 28 ga model 12s went high- one being a pigeon grade with some gold ~ $ 7500.
I did pick up a ~ 1885 or so J P Sauer Sidelock 2 barrel (16X 16 & 16X 11mm) damascas cased set that had a small dent in one barrel that will lift nicely I'm sure. A very unusual set that I doubt I will see again - excellent stock with two forends and will be hunted next year in S Dakota with some suitable handloads.
best regards,
