Does anyone know if the gun records for Charles Lancaster are available? I think that a few years ago someone bought them, but I can't remember the name or if records for an individual gun are available.

I see on Answers.com that the records are owned by an individual and are available, but as of now I don't have a name or contact information.

About 10 years ago Craig Whitsey helped to get some information on a Lancaster that I own. If you contact him (he advertises in the DGJ) he may recall who has the records.

Atkin, Grant & Lang have some sort of access to them but the Lancaster records have some gaps. I was speaking with them at the Game Fair here in England last summer with a view to checking on a Lang and a Lancaster that I have. Lagopus.....

There was a rifle maker by the name of Perkins that owned the records. However I understand he passed away maybe 2 years ago.

I have Nigel Brown's books and can share that information with you but have nothing beyond that. I also have a CL back action sidelock witha Damascus barrels that dates to 1896.

I have a Charles Lancaster Beesley built BLE Self opener. It is one of Toby Barclay's Heritage Guns. My SN is 07408 (#2 of pair if someone has 07407). It is from 1894. Toby included a correspondence from 8/21/2004 to:
Mrs M. Mitchell 19 Portman Crescent South Bourne, Bournmouth BH5 2ER Tel 01202 432950
She had (or still has) Lancaster records covering: (per the note)
Guns 5449 to 11949 Pistols and Rook rifles 7000-9417
Mrs Mitchell wrote the entry information by hand. She did not at the time have a means to copy the page.
Maybe Lagopus could make a UK call to check on his guns to confirm?
Good Luck,
Joe
