Amarillo Mike, it was the Scottish Parliament that wanted the sword ban; they also now want to ban all airguns.

Run with the fox, it could be said that Neville Chamberlain bought us another year to prepare. Had dear old England gone down then history would have been much different with either a Nazi Europe or a Communist one and Fritz or Ivan would have been to the moon first. Neville was a bit of an appeaser but we had someone waiting in the wings who had the guts to get things done.

This rotten Government, sorry can't say that as it is now an offence to protest about the British Government; just like North Korea, Zimbabwe and Communist China, but what the heck I'm still well armed! They should be out soon as they have to hold elections by May 2010. They are dipping their toes in the water now about banning game shooting. B*****s! Lagopus.....

Maybe yes-maybe no On De Nev-ster-- sort of a Limey's answer to our comic character Henry Tremblechin-- In 1938 when Herr Adolph seized his homeland of Austria- even in 1939 with the "Polish Farce" had The Limeys and the Frogs lived up to their pact- except maybe for the Air Wing- had enough troops and tanks on the ground to have stopped the 1000 year Reich dead in its panzer tracks (judged of course with 20-20 hindsight-) but just like De Boy POTUS currently occupying 1600 PA Avenue- "dithering" was the name of the game- and we paid the price- for as we found out in late 1941 and from thence until August/Sept 1945- The Limeys will always fight to the last drop of American blood- But as also my buddies whowere in Airborne Units would often say- "When Old Adolph designed "Festung Europa" possibly with bunker-Meister Albert Speer-they made one fatal error- they forgot to include a ROOF!!

The 14th amendment was adopted after the Civil War to stop former Confederate States from keeping recently freed blacks in slavery and denying them the full rights enumerated in the Constitution.

During the Congressional debates over the ratification process recently freed blacks were brought to Washington D.C. to testify about being disarmed by the fomer Confederate States and the KKK in violation of the 2nd amendment leaving them vulnerable to attack. That the second amendment was being ignored by the former Confederate States was clearly one of the major reasons Congress felt the 14th amendment was necessary. The transcripts of the debates are public record.

Sadly, some of our Supreme Court judges will likely twist the intent and the law to such a degree that they will make Gumby look like he was made of stone in an attempt to deny the individual right that is the second amendment to all citizens.

Few in the US know that Neville Chamberlain was a member of Churchills war cabinet after he was replaced by Winston. He was till a respected member of the government with a strong following. His dithering did in fact by time for his country but if he had been able and willing to make Hitler back down Hitler may have been replaced before the war even started. History is full of these what if type questions. If Custer had taken the Gattlening guns with him, as he was supposed to, it may have been Sitting Bulls Last Stand not his, that day many years ago.

Now in the end the WWII may still have happened. And if the start had been delayed by five years or more, as the German original time table was based on war in 1944 or 1945, two major weapons Germans were working on would have been operational. Just think of 2000-3000 jet fighters and the A-bomb in the hands of the leader who had forced out Hitler. First A bomb a air burst over Paris, France surrenders. Second one over England and they would be forced to follow. German victory in a short few months of war. How long would Russia last then? Months. Maybe the achievement of Neville Chamberlain was his appeasement bought enough time for England but not enough time for Germany.

Jim, It's significant that you noted you read about McDonald v. City of Chicago in The American Rifleman. You just don't get this news in the local paper, Time Magazine, or on CNN. Anyone here who truly values and enjoys owning, collecting, and shooting guns of any genre owes it to themselves, and their kids, and grandkids to join and maintain an NRA membership. No other group or organization has done more to protect our Second Amendment rights and keep us informed and mobilized to fight the lawmakers and individuals who are continually attempting to erode and eventually eliminate those rights. I've heard all the excuses for not joining. They do not solicit for extra contributions as much as they once did. You give when and if you can, and toss the rest like any other solicitation. The magazine alone is much improved, entertaining, informative, and worth the cost of membership by itself. And damn it, it's beyond shameful that a few million NRA members are carrying the mail for over forty million gun owners. Keith- Endowment Life Member!

Yes we unfortunately have Supreme Justices who would rather legislate from the bench. Probably the worst example of this is Ruth Bader Ginsberg. She is an ultra socialist who would destroy your rights in a heartbeat.

Also remember the terse reporting that the Heller decision received in the news media. It came across to me at the time like: "As much as we hate to report this the Supreme Count has ruled the the 2nd Amendment is in fact an individual right."
