Hi all, just was wondering what you Parker fans think of this one:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=146205132

Good price? Any comments?

I really don't have any interest in this one, just curious.

Thaks and all the best!

Greg

very rare gun as most ph grades were made with twist or stub twist barrels. This was a grade designation between gh and vh, never very popular and to find one in a sub bore, with ejectors is in deed a find, this gun has been listed several times now and I think the price may be more than the market will stand

Im not a Parker expert, but the finish looks like Tru-Oil to me.
Is the wood original?

He has been trying to sell is at least since August without a bid. He needs to accept an offer on the gun. The gun is not only refinished and restocked, it needs to have the barrel length checked. It is a pretty gun of no interest to a collector.

That stock sure as heck looks like a replacement to me. Especially with the "modern very usable dimensions".

Of course it is a restock. If it is a total redo and restock by DelGregos, the gun is free, the asking price is just the redo and restock.

Agree on the barrel length- Most PH and PHE Parkers had Damascus barrels and might be more commonly found with 28 and 30 inch configurations. I would research Mr. Delgrego and see if his records tie to the serial number of this 16 bore- and what work he did- a restock- I also agree that the dimensions look more like you would find on an Ilion Parker- believe Parker dropped the P Grade around 1928 or so--Price seems high, ejectors and 26" Parker Steel barrels if authentic would be a factor of course--

tiger strip case colors don't look right for a parker. also, not enough blues. but then most delgrego redos have different lookin case colors. documented delgrego redone guns bring good money. however, if you cannot prove delgrego work, then it is not worth near as much.

The only aspect that doesn't look like DelGrego work is the stock cheeks being too long & too large.
DelGrego generally will not divulge the extent of work he has done on a particular gun.
"Parker Special Steel" barrels were standard for the GH grade 2 guns. This one is advertised as Parker Steel which is correct for a PH.

I mostly don't like the way the forend looks like it has a oval plug in it. Probably doesn't but it looks like it.
