Hey again.

Ok, the Pietro Zanoletti...

I emailed the consortio armi bresciani to get some info on it. They responded today and said that P. Zanoletti stopped manufacturing guns many years ago. Now, while they made good quality guns as per their response, I am concerned about parts.

Could a decent gunsmith or machinist make firing pins or springs if say one was to break?

Would you still buy a gun that the company no longer exists?

It is a nice looking piece, but I just want to be safe.

Pietro

I'm sure if something broke a qualified gunsmith could make the part. Many of the guns discussed on this board are in the same situation.

Philbert's right on target. Fox, LC Smith, Parker etc are also no longer in business. If I liked the gun, worrying about parts wouldn't stop me.

Pietro....I notice you are in Thunder Bay. I just picked up a prewar Heym 16 gauge that I had restored. It was missing a couple of small parts. My gunsmith in Toronto made the parts and did beautiful work. Let me know if you need it and I'll forward his name.

James

Hell they don't make parts for SKB's anymore and it's a common gun. Go for it.

My new project (E.J. Churchill) is in a similar boat. Even though they are still around the guns were hand made so parts will not necisarily swap from one gun to another. A good smith will be able to take care of it for you. I would buy it if it is in good functioning order. Beautiful looking gun by the way.

I might make an exception on an SKB since they are a lot more likely to need parts than the others mentioned. Just kidding(sort of)

Unless you are the Worlds most unlucky shooter you should go a lifetime without ever finding out about parts. Every gun that I shoot was made by a maker who does not make guns anymore or has stopped making parts for them years ago. Firing pins and springs can be easily made if needed. Shoot it and enjoy it as much as you like.

What problem are you trying to solve?

1) What is special about this gun that you have to have it?
2) As other posters have stated, there are plenty of non-production guns used and repaired by qualified gunsmiths. Yes, a part from the factory would be nice but sometimes that's not an options.
3) You could purchase a BL Beretta, Browning Superposed, Win 101 and parts would be a little easier to find.

If you're worried about parts, then why buy the gun in the first place?
