Not very familiar with RRB's so I have nothing to compare it to. I made some deductions using info from the Blue Book. At first, because of it's small size, I thought it might be a No.4. It has the takedown lever it's supposed to, the gun will chamber a .32 Long, but then I read it's supposed to have a 22-1/2" barrel.

This gun has a 24" barrel, could it be a No. 1-1/2? Takedown levers aren't mentioned for the No. 1-1/2...

No 4, and a nice one when compared to most I've seen.

It is a #4. It only has a top tang as well as the take down lever. The barrel length changed over the years.

Joe, The metal looks to be in very good condition, the screws don't look like they've ever been turned. Someone along the way decided to coat the wood with something clear and did it without removing the wood from metal but that can be fixed. The bore is rough, might need to be relined.

Also, the buttplate seems original but undersized to the wood by about 1/32" is that normal?

If it chambers both .32 Long & Short, would it be a .32 Long? Is that stuff still made?

The rear sight looks like its not Remington. Lots of luck on the 32rf. I would clean it up and admire it for what it is. Take a look at this.

That's a very nice piece but I don't think I'm going to invest that much (g).

I agree, the rear sight stuck out to me as well, it has a deeper blue than the barrel. It has a screw for a slide but no slide, the elevator piece has a patent date of Feb, 4 1901 (?).
I'll have to take the rear sight out to see if it's marked on the bottom.

Just curious, can a .32 be made to work for a .22LR? The barrel would have to be relined but would the frame accept a .22 firing pin and extractor?

Why not leave it as an example of what it is? You may run across some 32rf some day. I have a Flobert 32rf I have had for years. Got it from a farmer who was shooting rats in the barn with it. Have had no desire to resurect it. A rolling block or a Stevens will never be a Martini no matter how much money you spend on it. If you want an enjoyable 22 find a 12/15 martini.

The Word (from the Green Frog) has it that the recently-available 32RF ammo made somewhere South of here is dog doo-doo. Misfires, case splits, etc, caveat emptor.

I noticed that the t/d lever on the gun I pictured is tightened all the way to the stop but the action feels like it could tighten up more. Does the wear usually occur on the lever "hinge pin" or on the barrel?
