I saw this gun before it was announced to the public and was able to handle both the gun in a prototype stage as well as the locks. I saw a later version at the Vintagers shoot where there was a gun that could be handled as well as the lock set.
The locks are as far as I can tell a direct copy of the SO4 lock, perhaps with some slight change but none that I could tell. This is what Lou also indicated - but refers to the SO6 because of their very nice hand detachable feature which the SO4 does not have. I do have an SO4 and have had the locks off recently enough that I think it is a fair comparison. The locking mechanism is not the SO4 cross bolt but is based on the cone projections of the Beretta 680 series.
It is built at CSMC and that is the reason that they are stopping the RBL production at the end of the year, if not sooner.
I do think it is a nice gun but I still do not care for the laser engraving. It does handle well, at least in the show room. However, it is not a SO4, SO5, SO6 or SO9 but then neither is the price.
Thanks
Z

We can buy a nice SO4 in fairly high condition for about eight or nine grand. What we can't buy is a small frame SO for any price within small multiples of the price of an SO4. An A-10 in small frame configuration, if it goes off every time we pull the trigger, is the buy of the century. However, I would guess that delivery of a small frame A-10 is years, not months, away. I think I will take a chance.

I wonder if the A-10 and my old SO pigeon gun will fit in one of my motheaten two gun cases? That thing felt pretty good when I handled it at the Fall Southern.

I haven't handled an A-10 (I love my RBL 20) but it seems to me that I saw a description of the detachability feature on the A-10. Involved a small door which was opened to allow hand removal of the locks. Anyone else remember this?

It is the same principle as the picture that PeteM posted. Lou attempts to demonstrate it in the video interview with Bruce Buck. The interview was done at the Vintagers with a hand held camera and does not give a closeup picture of the door.

A few years ago i personally handled an SO10 20 gauge pair Beretta was shopping around at an NRA convention. At $65K per Gun or $115K/set, I did not see the value.
The small frame A-10 presented a great value to me and i ordered a 20/28 set. I had been looking for a 28 gauge Target gun and had even requested Kolar to consider making one for me but no luck.
I think I will be happy with the A-10, whatever design the locks are!-Dick

Pete, totally agree. Get them while they are hot!

Priced surely considering the current economic situation, they should go quickly.

I was thinking that if you hurry, you can get a "matched pair", one in 12 bore and a
20/28 combo for a little over 10 grand. Wow! I'd go for it in a jiffy.
