Jack, I hope I didn't mess you up with my post. It didn't occur to me that the single bid on that frenchy might be one of us. If that's you bidding, I wish you the best of luck; I think I'll pass on that one, though at the present price it looks like a good deal to me...Geo

I'm afraid you may be right. I just ran into it, was not interested, and thought others might be...Geo

No worries, George. No sniping on GB and a weekend afternoon close means I've got a chance.

Thanks J.C. As I mentioned to you earlier today, I'm happy I didn't have to pay 1400 Euro--in France--where some folks value them. JC really held my hand on this one: vetted the description for the possibility of mechanicals and found one (the non-returning opening lever); determined from a French auction site that some were produced with factory-blued action; doped out the YOM which determined it to be C&R eligible, and sent me (in advance of the auction end) Jeff Greulich's dimensioned drwg. of the sling disconnect. Given a tight action and good bores, I think this one will be at home with my elegant little field grade Charlin. I have been looking actively for a year and a half; I think it was Postoak who got me interested. Thanks to all of you and certainly to Steve Bodio, Geoffroy Gournet, Ted Schefelbein and Larry Brown for making these French guns fly above the provincial radar.

Well, I guess we know who the local Francophile around here is now. Congratulations Mr. Rabbit, you still got a good deal even if I did unwittingly blow the horn on your auction find. Hope it shoots well for you...Geo

I'm a little surprised it went for that. But it's not like you find one of these everyday. Now i'm really kicking myself for not winning the auction for a grd 3 16ga that was at auction(no not GB or AA). I was out of town and having my wife bid didn't help either :/. My last bid was 700.00, it sold for the next high bid.

Congrats rabbit!

Rabbit - good going. They are very interesting, well designed and nice looking guns.

Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.
