It appears to me to have one 70mm chamber and one 65mm chamber in 16 gauge. I also see a barrel weight and a nitro proof. Probably before 1924, but when?

Thanks for any help.

M & M, it is pre-1924 and according to Kennett the bore diameter and choke diameter in a fraction form is after 1910, that is on the barrels on front of the flats. You might be able to narrow it down by the inspectors marks, Pete M. might help you there. Now lets see the rest of it.

The 18.7 along with the chamber length was the dia of the rear of chamber just ahead of rim seat. This converts to .736" which is a correct dia for a 16ga chamber. This mark was normally found only on those guns which also had the optional smokeless powder proof, which this one does, denoted by the PV mark.
It would be highly unusual for a gun to be chambered to a different length in each bbl, so one can mainly assume one of the marks was applied in error.

The gun was proofed between 1910 & 1924. The barrels were 1.2755KG or 2.81 lbs. 70mm = 2 3/4" chambers and as Miller stated, it was nitro proofed. But that does not mean it should be used with today's heavy loads.

Can you show more of the gun? Sorta like describing an elephant after seeing it's toe....

There was a date code mark for each year added in 1922 starting with an itallic "a" up to "z" in 1947. If you can't find a lone letter it is pre-1922. I cannot see a date code letter in your photo, but it may be there.
Combined with what James says, 1910-1922.

Assume you realize it's a Belgian gun, although that has not been prevously stated.

Thanks for all your help. You have confirmed a lot of what I suspected. 1910-1922 is what I was looking for. I will be back later with more information.
