I just returned from a very skimpy pheasant hunt up in SD. I had a great time meandering across the west with my wife, who, as a surprize decided to fly in and drive home with me. We went thru Cody,Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, and over to Napa Valley (it was on the way).
If you ate at The Place, you were a mile or so from my friend's carrot patch. You must have hunted up in either Apache Canyon or Qatal Canyon. Quatal goes up to another paved road that goes thru Pine Mountain to get back to Frazier Park. I checked out Quatal Canyon pretty well last year/season to find only one small covey. I did hear that my friend found good numbers of valley quail on his property recently. I'm trying to make arrangements to get access this season. Let you know.
