Michael, At one time Tucker told me how he marked his Jaeger rifles, but I'm not remembering?? I'll ask him again.
Quite a number of different craftsmen work at Jaeger, including recently deceased Alfie Gallefant, and it might be interesting to find out how and where he different fellows marked the guns they built. I do remember James saying he only marked complete projects.
The firm seemed to hold a consistent high quality for what I would term 'semi-custom" rifles and I'm sure they very much future collectables as well as nice guns to own. I believe they were featured in Gun Digest custom rifles section sporatically(?)
Best,
Steve

Steve and Michael, odd that we don't think to interview these people before they leave. I don't know how many times I have had the chance to interview Alfred, and now there is Dietrich that we are not interviewing. I talked to Alfred I don't know how many times and every word was of interest but I didn't write anything down. I talk to Dietrich for what seems like eternities, yet I don't write anything down. I guess we should rethink our priorities. Murphy

Because my focus is on pre-war there were many questions that I just never asked. I've never found a single person who had first hand knowledge of Paul Jaeger's work from before the war. During the war I have him listed as making dies and precision tooling for the government, what kind of dies I have not learned. The pre-war years are also confusing as to what came out of his shop and what came out of his father's shop in Germany.

Paul returned to the USA in 1927 and it's purported that he worked for VL&D, A&F and Sedgley. I'm convinced he worked for Sedgley but unsure of the others.

Me thinks Michael has hit the nail on the head. All of the answers are/were available from a person with knowledge on a subject but we don't exactly know what the questions are. Interesting that a person who has departed this world is exempt from any charges of any sort but on the other hand cannot be interviewed for any info.

Kind Regards,

I was glad when I saw this post maybe I will keep it. When I bought it, it had a Unertl scope on it and guess what I took it off, maybe they will reunite.

I have many questions but I will wait until I see the pictures. What type of scope mounts does it have, was the unetrl a target scope with blocks?

Yes scope and blocks. This gun is nothing pretty but a 03 action and a Jaeger heavy barrel and the stock is a plain stock with a left hand cheek piece and right hand bolt go figure I am right handed and shoot left all the more reason to keep it.
