I'm not sure what everyone here is so concerned about. First of all, the previous poster is incorrect. I live in Jackson Hole WY., and Elk hunting is definitely allowed in Grand Teton National Park (as well as the National Elk Refuge). At the present time copper bullets are requested/recommended in the Park, not required. From the Jackson Hole Daily, Oct. 8, 2009: "National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis said he has no plans to ban lead bullets and fishing tackle in parks...". Is there some other "NPS Ammo Ban" I'm not aware of? The attempted ban on lead for bullets (there are alternatives) and fishing weights was an environmental concern, not political, related to ravens, raptors and other predators injesting the lead from bullet fragments in gut piles. It was not anti-gun or anti-hunting and certainly wouldn't discourage anyone from hunting due to increased cost for ammo; it only takes 1 bullet to kill an Elk! I've been hunting ducks for 20 years with steel shot and I shoot and kill more now than I did 20 years ago! My car runs fine without lead in the gas. Quit yer paranoid ranting (isn't there enough of that on TV these days?) and go out hunting more with all those precious and beloved guns! That's what I do.
