Hard to do that, too. I was in SW AZ for eight days on two trips in early September, and their shelves are pretty much empty. Even the biggest hunting/shooting emporium in Yuma (Sprague's) was short on ammo and had signs posted at the registers limiting the number of boxes of ammo or the number of primers you could buy at one time. The WalMarts in Yuma have signs limiting you to two boxes per customer, but they had nothing to sell (other than .32 Auto). So I bought some .32 Auto, even though I don't have a .32 Auto. It's a nice light load in my S&W J-Frame .32 S&W Long, but it's not much of a stopper if you need that.

The crazies are in charge.

The "ammo shortage" which IMO was supplier contrived and worsened by panic buying is for the most part over here. The Scottsdale Gun Club where I'm a member has quit ammo rationing and you can buy pretty much what you want anymore. There are still component shortages however and primers are in short supply.
