I'm not speaking for anyone but myself, but please remember how faceless internet based discussions are. Faceless, in that we get zero tonal inflection and zero body languange. If we were in a bar, the smiles that go along with the jabs would be obvious to all.
I know from personal experience that letting an internet based insult get under one's skin is HORRIBLE. You can't grab the guy by the lapels and 'splain it to him, so it gets stuck.
Another downfall of BBS's is unintended insults. I'd asked a question here and then responded to helpful post very quickly. Too quickly. Then after seeing the helper's "FU too" I realized my terse reply to his help was snippy and nasty to read. Totally the opposite of what I meant to convey.
Yeah, gjw asked about SST's and got a lot of SxS orthodox dogma in response, but that's the crowd here. My response to the orthodoxy is putting on pads with white line spacers.
