Is anyone but me getting tired of being bombarded with the term "Gold" in product trademarks?

Gold is a useful metal. It has excellent properties for electrical contacts, it makes seals for hypergolic propulsion systems when nothing else will do, and a little bit of it looks good on a lady.

But do we need the Gold Pigeon, the Browning Gold, the Gold Elite (double gag), Pure Gold shells, Supreme Gold slugs, etc., etc.?

I blame American Express. It started with the Gold Card I believe. Just whip that puppy out and puff out your chest. You have arrived, Mr. Frumpington, your credit card is made of gold!

Apparently, everyone whishes to be associated with "Gold". The marketing departments either can't think up descriptive names for products, they have run out of model numbers, or maybe they think we expect anything associated with quality to be called "Gold" something or another.

I'm sick of it. As I type this into UBB "Gold" software.

Its alot better than giving them names of animals or some other abstract krap.

I`ll also add,I cant stand makers name in big letters across the reciever like to alert the guy next to you what it is.
In fact, why should they mark anything larger than the law allows
is BS imho.

Don't forget the overwhelming success of the Ruger Gold Label!
My pet peeve word in the BS department is the use of "Magnum" to represent HARD shot. Magnum has nothing to do with hardness, of course.

I have a large bottle of Gojo "Power Gold" hand cleaner. It actually works very well, but given that it is green and I assume the grittiness is pumice I don't see where the gold part comes in.

Oh, I don't know. I love shooting Remington Nitro 27s. I walk around the skeet field saying, "Gol-l-l-l-lden Bullets!! He shoots Gol-l-l-l-lden Bullets"! And since I turned 62 a few weeks ago, I am retired with no cares in the world and I only have two months until I get my first SS check, these really are my "Golden Years". I love it!!
