Mr Mann
Thats exactly the reason He doesnt want (or Need) it checkered.
Plus the fact he now has a gun that fits him and has honestly become quite a decent shot with it!!
He is shooting sporting clays tournaments, and also feels the checkering will make his hands sore after a day of smokin em!

The stock needs checkered in my opinion!! But whats I know!! I like the way a 21 looks!! HE HE

The Model 21 that is pictured in Ned Schwing's book is pretty nice. I always thought checkering was a matter of need and taste. Speaking of long arms......... my aunt gave me a very nice Weatherby rifle that belonged to my uncle before he died. It is really a beautiful rifle with mother of pearl leaves all along the stock and a gold plate under the stock with his name engraved on it. But he had such long arms. (They said from carrying milk pails on the farm all his life). I can't even get my eye close to the scope because the stock is so long.

It's pretty amazing to me that the fine Purdey's built during the tenure of crossedchisles and his gang of friends there have apparently survived in the real world and continue to be highly prized guns. The amount of alcohol consumed by the merry gang there (at least according to the stories posted here by the Hon. Master Trevallion) would seem to work contrary to fine craftsmanship. Must be something in the water (??) that "insulates" from harmful effects of over imbibing???
