I can't recall ever having seen an SKB Model 100 (the basic extractor gun) as a Mitsui import, although I have seen 200's--and they were the least expensive sxs with automatic ejectors.
SKB's numbered 500 and up were all OU's, to my knowledge. And I don't believe there were "field" versions of the 700 and 800; rather, just target models (trap and skeet). The only straight grip OU of the original Ithaca SKB imports was the 680.
Anything is possible. I purchased a Model 700 O/U in Japan in 1989 (NIB) and it is factory IC/Mod and marked as such on the barrel flats. Price back then (and this was new mind you) was $190. PS. I was offered two for that price and bought one for my friend and didn't by the other for myself. Think I was bitten by the Weatherby Athena disease at that time and had three of them (two 20's and a 12). All of those are long since sold. The only Japanese made O/U in the inventory is a Winchester 101 Pigeon Grade in 20 gauge. I keep thinking about selling it, but I need to have a least one o/u in my inventory.
