Peter A is right; forgot sometimes it takes a little bump of something (butt or maybe muzzles on carpeted floor) to get it to go two pieces.

I've always much prefered using a small rubber mallet to give the muzzles a light "rap" to get the barrels to come off, banging the stock or muzzles on the floor to free the barrels never gave me the warm fuzzies.

Yeah messing with a couple of guns at the same time and put one trigger my fault will try and get the barrels off today and put up some new pictures borrowed a light from a friend to get some better pictures.

If you want a gun with a broken horn, or plastic buttplate, or the toe missing from the buttstock, go ahead and bang the stock against the floor. However, at the factory, they bump the muzzle end against a piece of carpet or plywood hung on the wall for just this purpose.
I usually tell people to put the muzzles into either the carpeted floor or, better, into the toe area of one's shoe while while holding the barrel/buttstock middle section with your weak hand, and using the meaty part of your free hand to give the buttplate a karate chop. The nerve endings on both your foot and your hand will keep the violence perpetrated to the breakable things within reason, using this method.

Was a little stuck and about took off a finger when it finally let go but its off now. serial number, four rabbits, Charlin Automatique St. Etienne. And as you predicted several proofs on the bottom of barrels pictures attached pour poudre pyroxlee. Dave K that is virtually the same gun thanks for the link that one is not as engraved but that is it. Was not familiar with the sliding breech. Click on the pictures and then there should be a magnifying glass on top right and then you can move the picture around on the picture itself to get a good view.

Finding out it isn't easy to take pictures of writing on a barrel. Anyway thanks for all the assistance was not familiar with this company or sliding breech. Any idea on how to date it or price it?

I have a large piece of multipurpose carpet on the floor. Now thinking of using the meaty part of my weak head. Good to have options,
