I have no idea why the big two continued to load the 1 5/8 ounce loads and discontinued the 1 1/4 ounce. The target audience was not the vintage gun crowd but the users of modern, mostly Spanish and Belgian 3 1/2" tens when lighter loads were wanted. Original 1 1/4 ounce loads are extremely hard to find but the 1 5/8 ounce loads are sometimes encountered at gun shows. I bought a box of plastic Remingtons last month. I wouldn't be shooting those Super-X loads in the little gun. I use the RST 1 1/8 ounce loads for most of my shooting. It's only money.

Bill,
Wanna trade that box of 1 5/8 ounce Remingtons for a box of factory paper 1 1/4 ounce Remingtons? You say they're hard to find, I'd be happy to let some go in trade for heavy loads.

You let me know what you want to do but make sure it is when we meet in person, not by mail. Do you plan on attending the Vintagers? I guess not. It is a long haul.

Nope, too busy duck hunting that weekend and following week. Don't know when I might see you in person, will keep you posted.

Destry, The Super X I mentioned and shown in the photo above are plastic hull. Did the 1 1/4oz loads come in anything other than # 4's? Randy

Yeah, you could get the 1 1/4 stuff in about any size when they were still making it. I think they dropped it from the line not much after the early 50's though. The boxes I have in that shot charget are pretty old. I make the same offer to you, if you wanna swap a box I'm happy to do it. I think I've got #5 and #6 in the 1 1/4 stuff.
