Ouch..... ...... Where can I get a pad the fits behind the trigger guard to help prevent finger bashing?? It only happens when I shoot a double trigger gun and I actually like the double trigger. Please help

Galazan has them. I have learned to keep my finger away from rear of guard and i grip the gun tightly with my trigger hand. Bobby

I think Brownells has them, also.

I couldn't find them, either.

Hello
I take a yellow EAR Classic ear plug

http://www.earinc.com/p1-foam.php

and put it in the freezer then slice it in half from top to bottom. I then put it behind the trigger guard with athletic tape. Problem solved

So, you be from the U.P. eh?

Someone (Kickeez maybe?) sells a padded gizzer what fits around your finger to ease one's pain and suffering. With one of those you would not hafta do anything to the gun.

Have you tried sliding your hand farther back on the grip and only pressing the trigger with the pad at the end of your finger? Works for me.

Yes, I'm from da U.P. hey!! I scoured Brownells site and couldn't find anything. The one I saw previously on a gun looks like the one from Connecticut Shotgun Mfg. Co./ Galazan. I've received several great tips and will try them before I buy a pad if I need to. To remember to grip the stock different or to hold it different sounds great, but you have to remember to do it!!! I sold most all my double trigger guns back 5 or 6 years ago because of the pounding. I wish I had the Bernardelli's and Merkels again. I had a lump the size of a marble on my finger and it took almost 2 years for it to get back to normal, hence the FEAR I now shoot a Beretta 426E and it works great but I still like the double trigger??????

Howdy YooperJ,

When I started Cowboy Action Shooting with a SXS and double triggers, I had the same problem. We shoot as fast as we can, from different angles and positions, and cannot always get our hands in the proper places to avoid getting your middle finger battered and bruised.

The first thing that I tried, was some tubular foam padding that you can get from the pharmacy or medical supply store. It comes in a long length, and the store will either sell you a whole box, or usually cut you whatever length you need. You cut an inch or so and slip it on your finger down to the last joint. Sometimes I added a layer of adhesive tape to make it a little sturdier. That worked for a while, but eventually I found out that......

what I needed was more length of pull (LOP). I added a lace on pad to my SG, which moved my hand back an inch or so, and voila, the problem was solved. No more banged up finger. No more bruises. No more ouch!

Happy trails,

HHH

Try the drug store. I use corn pads which has the elastic band to hold the pad on your toe. Cheap and effictive protection for your middle finger.

Hipshot is correct in length of pull. The gun is to short for you. When the gun is biting a cheek or your hand it is a fit issue most of the time.
