Brent:

The rifle sporting the above butt plate won the Great Lakes Regional Championship with a 32, 30 and 33.

How was Raton?

Way to go GLENN!!!!

Raton was a whole lot of fun. I shot well one day on steel, but broke a pin and got a bit confused on the second and did not do quite as well. Creedmoor was hot, and generally difficult. We had afternoon winds each day that were just way different than anything I've seen before. In the morning I shot better - sometimes. A 95 2x at 800 was my best.

You and your buttplates were missed, but I understand that one cannot be in two places at once. Maybe next year, we can both shoot both matches.

Gentlemens:

First of all, I would like to offer a belated thank you to Mr. Smith for his kind words and to Mr. Hughes for posting the pictures. It was very kind of you both. Yes Dennis, I think I can scare up a few more plates for you when you need them.

I believe I have one or two of the damascus plates left. One is reserved for a gentleman who is waiting for me to get around to making him a set of forend key plates to match. Actually, this whole Adventure in Capitalism started with a client's request for a damascus skeleton plate. Ultimately the die was built and a run of plain steel plates were made along with a few damascus.

I made one damascus skeleton grip cap, which is on the rifle in the picture. It is made of two layers of damascus silvered together and then carved out by hand. There has been no call for damascus grip caps and there are good quality steel caps available from other sources so I never bothered to build tooling for them. This is the only picture I have handy of it...

Here are a couple pictures of the rifle. It has been this forum before

Best to all,

Glenn

Glenn

I suspect that Glenn himself was the loose nut on the trigger during that outing, and he's just too modest to 'fess up! Kinda reminds me of My Daddy's attitude, he always said that only punks brag.

And Glenn is certainly no punk, he's a National Championship Shooting Hero (VBG)!
Regards, Joe

Yes, I have confirmed from other, independent sources, Glenn was indeed the operator on that rifle.
