Mike, Maybe this will give you some ideas. You can get a Weaver-type blank from Brownell's or Midway and contour it to fit your needs. I think they are nine or ten inches long and run $15-20. I bought one a couple of years ago to put on a takedown high wall that was drilled for Unertl bases. I wanted to mount a shorter scope without drilling more holes in the barrel. The rifle is mostly used for hunting, and although I originally used a Lyman Alaskan, I have since switched to a Weaver K6-W with the rectangular field of view, which allows more room under the ocular lens for thumbing the hammer.
