Most sources give the firm of Christoph Friedrich Triebel as being founded in 1800. Christoph Friedrich Triebel may very well have founded it or a decendent such as Stephan Triebel founded it under that name but from the mid 1830s on I haven't run across a person by that name. A firm mind you, but not a person. Circa 1850 Caspar Friedrich Triebel was a master bayonet/knife/blade maker/forger and Nicolaus Triebel, Jr. was probably his apprentice. Gottlieb, Johann Friedrich and Nicolaus Sr. were all master gunsmiths. More than likely one of these fellas was the brother or father to Heinrich August Lindner's wife Hedwig Triebel Lindner. The probability is very high that Lindner sourced work to some of the Triebel klan. By WWI, Richard Friedrich Triebel was at the helm. Pics would be nice, but usually the stamp "C.F.Triebel" is seen on the tube as well as the stamp of a "C" overstamped onto a "T" with a "F" stamped in the middle. It would be interesting to see what type frame it has. There were several other Triebel gunmakers around Zella Saint Blasii circa 1900 along with Johs. Trieble who was an inn keeper.

I missed a lovely single shot rifle marked Fr. Treibel Potsdam. at an auction last year, quality work, I' still kicking myself.

Wonderfully made, heavy octagon barrel but a sporting rifle, not a target rifle.

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

In hind-sight/20/20, those missed opportunities are difficult to forget.

Friedrich Triebel of Potsdam was probably with the Schilling folk who at Potsdam/Spandau, near Berlin where the money was, made a mint making the 1871 rifle, or some subsequent version. Then in the down time he probably sourced the components or longarm from Suhl and finished it.

Does the firing pins have disk set strikers and does it have ejectors? What type wood does it have and at the business end is there a menancing muzzle? Thad Scott at one time had a Chr. Triebel sidelock and I think it was over $5k but it would be tough to realize that. Maybe a Sauer sourced frame?

Quite Nice. Looks to be a hidden 3rd fasterner, bushed and disk set strikers which were mandatory on double rifles but optional on scatterguns, and jeweled watertable. I would venture a guess that the flats are jeweled also? Is there a screw on the standing breech on the left side? Any chance of getting a pic of the barrel flats?

Looks nice,
one other factor would be barrel length, condition, choke and perhaps chamber if you could get that info.
