Fellows:
For the first time in I don't know how many gunstocks, I have been treated in what I consider an unfair manner.
I purchased an inletted stock from Gunstocks, Inc. The stock was poorly inletted. The upper tang slot was too wide and much too long, approximately 3/16" to depth of the bottom tang. I couldn't even start the action on the stock. I did remove the wood that was necessary to get the action on. The upper tang slot was wider than the tang, but manageable with some filler. However there was insufficient wood on the one side where the stock meets the receiver.
Gunstocks, Inc. reply was that their policy is they will do nothing with an altered gunstock, therefore I have to live with their poor workmanship, and the cost of the stock. Their feeling is that the stock should have been checked with a straight edge prior to doing anything. I am not exactly sure how one does that and I have never had to do this in the past.
Anyway, this is an information only posting. Beware, they could potentially be hard to do business with.
