It's a surprise and a treat to see enthusiasm for the Krag. I hope we will eventually see some photos of great classic Krag sporters.Does anyone have pics of a Fisher Krag? On a related note I wish some serious Krag shooters would post their favorite loads, both for cast and jacketed bullets. I followed the recent comments on mounting a Lyman 48. I didn't find it easy, but it turned out fine. Hint: Spot the second hole on the sloping surface and then cut a small flat to start the drill on.That was excellent advice.

Bill,
There is a Fisher Krag with a member here but I don't think he has the digital picture world worked out yet.
I no longer hunt so all my Krag loading is for paper punching and the only Krag I have is a cut-down military. I have a lot of .30 caliber bullets of unknown make that I've been shooting up during the great bullet shortage of 2009. One piece of advice that has worked for me on the military Krag is to seat the bullet as far out as possible and still work through the magazine. The Armory chamber is cut for the long 220gr bullet.

Michael, Thanks for the Krag pictures. The Gibbs rifle is OK to my eye though the rear sight seems out of place. The first rifle is the real thing! I assume it's a G&H. If the owner would like a grandchild, perhaps we could work out a trade.

Both those are GREAT rifles. I am going to figure out how to post pictures, although my Krags are not in the same class of those above.
I have been shooting Hornady 168gr bullets, Federal Large Rifle Primers, and 43.2 grains of H4350 powder. Shoots great and is easy on the action.

My Kraig Carbine use 19.5 4759 & the old Saeco RG4 200 Gr cast bullet. 1/25 gas checked and lubed with SPG. Bullet is the long nose funny looking one that appears to be the shape of a drill bit run into the mold block. Just one grease grove way back. Seated to the crimping grove it just about engages the rifling of a Kraig.
That rifle and load won several Cast Bullet Association postal matches. About 1600 FPS.
